Perhaps I was a bit over anxious about the D1 being abandoned. The sale of the phone is done (unless you look on eBay), but the updates art still here.
Case in point, Verizon's
2.2.1 OTA upgrade that was posted less than an hour ago.
Yeah, I know. It's not 2.3, and there is still no Swype (GRRR!!!!) and there is still no calendar search. All the things they say that are new look pretty much the same although I will admit they run better. Although I am a bit creeped out by the accuracy of the course data in Google Maps. (Turning GPS off is generally a good thing.)
I just wanted to pass that bit of information along. Perhaps you know what is new aside from a few added transitions and performance tweaks.
UPDATE: New GMail interface got stuck in the Android Market. Redownloaded it. Great improvements to GMail including the new Priority Inbox feature, Important tagging, and the ability to send mail from more than one email account without having add accounts. Meaning: If you have two GMail accounts, one for business and one for personal use, and your default account is your personal one, you can click the From field and send mail using your business account through your personal account. This is so much better than attempting to log in two email accounts on your Droid, which can cause redundancy if you've forwarded your business mail to your personal inbox for convenience.
